The latest chapter of the CR7 Mercurial series drops ahead of the international fixtures as “Chapter 6” focuses on Ronaldo’s role as captain of his national team, Portugal. The latest design is named ‘Born Leader’ and pays tribute to the Portugal captain’s leadership
Cristiano Ronaldo first captained Portugal 11 years ago on February 6, 2007, one day after his 22nd birthday. The following year, he became the nations standing skipper and has since then he has worn the armband more times than any other skipper in the history of the Portuguese national side— a record he extends with every Portugal appearance. To celebrate a decade at the helm, Nike has crafted him a boot designed to complement the Portuguese color palette.
Chapter 6 in the series of seven CR7 boots focuses on Ronaldo’s role as the captain of his national team. “When you play for your country you want to win, you want to defend your colors,” Ronaldo, who willed his team to victory at Euro 2016 after injury forced him out in the final, explained.
The latest signature CR7 Mercurial Superfly takes on the form of the new-generation Mercurial Superfly 360, and arrives with more features that tell the story of CR7’s distinguished career. “Born Leader” is the title of the chapter, and it’ll be reserved in Cristiano Ronaldo’s mind as he prepares to lead out his country into the 2018 World Cup wearing his captain’s armband.
Assent to Portugal’s historical sea exploration lies within the Swoosh, with a captain’s “C” incorporated adjacent side of the heel and the Portuguese colors on the heel tab. Check out the boots below. You can expect Cristiano Ronaldo to switch into his new signature design for Portugal’s friendlies with Egypt and Holland this weekend.
The CR7 Chapter 6: Born Leader boot is available from 20th March on Nike.com and from 22nd March in stores.
